Rebecca's belated photos
Happy Memorial Day!
As promised, here are some photos from Rebecca's wedding. You'll see a few weddings this summer with similar blooms and designs. In this particular wedding, we used two varieties of pink peonies, pink hydrangea, poppy pods, pink lizzy, pink tulips, green hypericum berries, pink bouvardia and sweet pea, variegated lily grass, regular and mini pink cymbidium orchids, bear grass, heather, lamb's ear, buplerum, and salal. In addition to the bride's bouquet and one of the bridesmaid's bouquets, you'll see a number of arrangements: she had three table designs -- a mixed arrangement, a grouping of three small vases, and a floating peony on black river rock. Some of the photos are decent, but the one's taken in Southworth Hall are marred by the flash. If only I had a little portable sunshine to bring with me as we set up... There's also a photo of the guest book arrangement, but I didn't get any good shots of the cake. Because there was a ring ceremony before the reception, we weren't able to set everything up completely b/c tables had to be moved around for dinner. On the head table they rented some extra vases for all the bouquets and set those down the center of the long table, accompanied by 2.75" cube candles and more of the black river rock acting as a runner. Cute! Hope I get photos of that from the photographer...
On the calendar for this week:
Aubrie's wedding at the Salt Lake Temple and reception at The Old Meeting House on Tuesday, and Crista's ceremony and reception at Log Haven on Friday.
Have a fantastic holiday!

Part-time positions available with Whimsy!
In case any of you are looking for some part-time hours during the summer and beyond... We're looking for 1 or 2 reliable individuals to join our team as production assistants. Candidates must have very flexible schedules (students off for the summer are okay), have the abillity to learn and work quickly and efficiently, be good with your hands, function well under pressure, and if you're at all creative, that's a plus as well. There's opportunity to advance if you decide you love the industry and want to stay on.
If you or anyone you know may be interested, drop us an email with your resume/letter of interest to mail@whimsyfloral.com. We'll send you a detailed job description and get you scheduled for an interview.
I promise I'll get stuff posted about Rebecca's wedding, just not yet. Crazy week so far...
Take care!

There's no place like home...
Well, I'm officially back from my vacation. Spent a little time in the sun, a little time relaxing, and a lot of time in traffic! That's California for you, though...
While I was there, I found time to do a few of special order arrangements for old clients -- mostly Mother's Day stuff. I never cease to be amazed by the selection and quality of locally grown flowers. I wish the weather allowed us to do more of that here.
This weekend is Rebecca's wedding in Provo. I have tons of consultations on the schedule as well -- I'm going to be playing catch-up for the next couple weeks. Thank you to everyone (clients and not-yet clients) for your patience while I was away. Aside from a few software glitches, we were able to get everyone scheduled and taken care of in a timely manner.
Thanks!

I'm off to the airport!
A quick photo of Crista's bouquet for her bridal shoot this evening (she rescheduled b/c of last week's nasty weather) -- a small simple clutch of 20 bi-color mini callas.
My vacation is going great so far -- my sister and her kids flew in for a visit last week and left Saturday just in time for me to see to a full night of consultations. We took a day to pack (not my favorite activity, that's for sure!), and now we'll be leaving for the airport in a couple hours to head to CA for the rest of our vacation. Just a reminder: because I'll be away until the 16th, I'm obviously not going to be around to answer the phone. If you have questions, need to check on availability, or want to schedule a consultation, either a leave a message or send me an email and Kristin or I will get back to you as soon as possible -- within 24 hours.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

This weekend and upcoming news...
Pink (the spring/summer color of choice among many brides) is popping up everywhere. In fact, with the exception of a white wedding in May, you'll be seeing all pink coming from this team through the end of June! Granted, accents colors like brown, champagne, and green are often paired with it, but pink happens to be what our brides are asking for right now. Stay tuned throughout mid-summer/early fall, however, when apple green becomes the big contender...
So this weekend we had two events but only one to show. The wedding I didn't take any photos from featured roses in peaches, yellows, and creams with pearl accents. While we very rarely work with baby's breath, the bride specifically requested a lot of baby's breath to mimic the look of pearls. Her bouquet was enormous -- over 50 roses -- and her bridesmaids held smaller but similar designs.
The photos of the wedding arrangements I'm attaching are more typical to this time of year -- seasonal, textured, multi-colored... These arrangements had a little bit of everything, from roses and gerbs, to lisianthus, freesia, and queen anne's lace...a large variety of greenery, too, which lends to that textured feel.
Just an FYI to all: the next couple weeks are my official summer vacation so I may seem harder to get a hold of than usual. I'm still holding consultations this Saturday and there are a couple spots left for anyone who needs to get in before I head out of state for the rest of my vacation. On Monday, I hop a flight to CA where I'll be until the 16th of May. While I'm there, I'll be checking both my email and voice messages daily and if you have questions or would like to get a consultation scheduled for my return, either Kirstin or I will call you back within 24 hours. I'm a workaholic, I know, but this is how we do it every year so we've got our system down pretty tight. You'd be surprised by how many events I booked while sitting on the beach last summer!
Upcoming events...
Crista's bridals this Thursday, and Rebecca's wedding/reception on Saturday the 19th after I return to town.
Take care!
